Stop the music: please

Annoying music will stop playing once enough money has been raised to buy a new mascot suit

The Varsity Club will be happy to stop playing annoying music during lunch and between classes: just as soon as the club raises $500 to purchase a new suit for Concord High’s mascot, Tidey the Duck.
“The suit smells bad and is also falling apart,” said Varsity Club advisor and Commons D secretary Christine Boezeman, who said students have chosen tunes specifically designed to bother listeners in a fun way.
“The music is suppose to be annoying so students or teachers donate money,” she said.
Students and teachers can drop money in the collection box located in Commons D or, during lunch, in the cafeteria.
Recently two songs have played over and over: “The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)” by Ylvis and “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.
Some listeners have enjoyed the music. Others are less entertained.
Said Joseph Carberry,  “Some songs are good but not the fox one.”
“I find it really annoying and frustrating and it hurts my ear,” said Chhabi Khanal.
“I find it stupid. There is better way to raise money,” said Natasha Mason.
Teacher Danielle Hilstro agreed that “some songs are annoying” but called the Jepsen tune “not bad.”
