The Deerfield Fair is coming to town for the 138th year, this time running September 25 through 28.
Admissions will be $10 for people 13 and older. Children 12 and younger enter free.
Some of the more popular fair attractions are the pig scramble, dog demonstration, auto derby, rides and horse shows.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said Leigha Charpentier, a Concord High School senior and Deerfield resident who will be showing horses at the fair for the second time.
In order to tell when events are going, visitors can consult a pamphlet received upon entering the fairgrounds.
CHS senior Kennedy Wilson’s favorite attraction is the animals, except for cows: “Because they smell.”
Fellow senior Kris Skinner said his favorite attractions are the pig scramble and the rides. “The Zipper is thrilling and scary. I like heights.”
Thrill seekers like Kris might want to get to the fair Friday or Sunay between the 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in order to enjoy unlimited rides for $25.
FullSizeRenderA relatively new and popular attraction is disc dog, happening for the third time at the fair.
“It seems to gather a good crowd for the 45-minute performance and it got quite a lot of positive feedback,” said the event organizer, Deerfield resident Kimberly Black.
The disc dog demonstrations will take place Saturday at noon<, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the special events arena (where sheep herding also takes place).
