Looking to kick back and relax after a long semester? Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings may be the movie for you.

This adventurous, sci-fi film is the perfect escape from work and stressful projects, and will keep you entertained up until the end credits (and even after the end credits).

Shang-Chi is a movie produced by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here in the United States it was released on September 3, 2021, and has become a hit Marvel movie since.

The storyline follows a Chinese-American young adult named Shang-Chi, who works in valet parking at a hotel with his best friend, Katy.

Shang-Chi has a past of helping out his anti-hero father, Wenwu, with “missions.” He quickly gets drawn back into his father’s disorderly line of business when Wenwu sends his men to come retrieve Shang-Chi.

After fighting off some of his father’s goons, Shang thinks it is best if he goes to find his sister, Xialing, and warn her that their father is after them. Shang-Chi and Katy venture to find Xialing together.

This movie is a series of twists and turns surrounding Shang-Chi’s family and why Wenwu wants to reconnect with his children. The film frequently skips back and forth between the past and the present, often showing flashbacks of when Shang-Chi was an adolescent.

Fans were excited to see the representation of Chinese culture while watching this PG-13 film, and some claimed to be felt “seen” after seeing their traditions portrayed in the Marvel blockbuster.

A lot of other consumers related to this movie as it was the first Asian-led superhero film in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

The opening of the film raked in an astounding $75,388,688, making it the sixth highest grossing movie of 2021. This action packed, 2 hour and 12 minute film now can be streamed on Disney Plus.
