Consider a winter visit to Maine

Many people think of L.L. Bean when they think of Freeport, Maine, but there are other reasons to visit there this winter. In December Freeport is hosting its Season of Light Celebration for the 8th year in a row. Head to Freeport Public Library for a breathtaking view of the holiday lights on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1-4 p.m. This is a free community event and Freeport welcomes all. On the way up or back, don’t forget to take time to visit Old Orchard Beach. Many people find the beach just as gorgeous in winter as in summer. Said Concord High School freshman Alexandria Grappone: “It was the prettiest beach I have ever been to before. So many old memories hidden within the rocks. Every time I go there I feel like I am whisked away to a magical island one could only experience in a dream.”
