Concord High School students will take AP exams May 6-10 and May 13-17. 
Because exams will take place in the Lecture Hall,  few classes will end up getting relocated or canceled.
While different exams take different amounts of time to complete, they usually last 3-4.5 hours each.
Many students are encouraged to take the AP exam because “some colleges, not all, will accept certain scores on an AP exam and give you credit in exchange,” said guidance counselor Jodie McLaughlin.
Colleges that do extend credits may require students to earn a 3 or above.
Preregistration forms were due March 21. Approximately 149 signed up for an AP exam this year. This number is fewer than last year’s numbers, 229.
Students who signed up to take an AP exam are required to attend a preregistration session this week in the Media Center. The first session took place yesterday, April 16. Others will be held as follows: today, April 17, from 3-3:45 p.m.; Thursday, April 18, from 7-7:45 a.m.; and Friday, April 19, from 7-7:45 a.m.
“Students can not show up to take their test without having done a pre-administration session,” said McLaughlin.
Students continue to study for their exams. Otherwise they should listen to advice that their teachers provide, McLaughlin said. Teachers “know the ins and outs. Some of the teachers who are teaching AP exams have been teaching them for many years and are very knowledgeable.”
