Don't give up

Starting and keeping a band together is very difficult. The big thing in my band, Lost Contact, was everybody wanted to play a different genre of music.
We changed the band’s sound many different times this spring. The rhythm guitarist said the sound “wasn’t heavy enough” and then when we worked on it, we came up with a new sound, but then all of a sudden he just left and took the bassist with him. It came together and it fell apart, very quickly.
After that happened, the drummer said he wanted to do alternative punk, so that is what we did. Right now we’re reformatting.
Other people can learn from what we went through. And, you don’t have to have a band to write your own music. I share some advice in the podcast below, recorded after the televised  2014 Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony that celebrated musicians who didn’t give up.
