It’s not too late to sign up for the Wicked Fit Run, a kid-friendly 5k race that starts at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 28, at Rollins Park on Broadway.
Since this event takes place so close to Halloween, organizers highly encourage runners to wear costumes.
According to the Wicked Fit website, proceeds will support the Families in Transition organization and “its efforts of providing a home and hope for homeless families and individuals in Concord, Manchester and Dove.”
Children are welcome to participate in a 9 a.m. free fun course with obstacles, mascots and more, also at Rollins Park. All kids who join get prizes. Costumes are encouraged.
All kids must be accompanied by an adult.
“I’m excited to run the race. Well, walk and run,” said CHS freshman Olivia Anderson. “I still don’t know about my costume.”
It’s not too late to sign up. Individuals 20 and older can sign up prior to the race for $30.  People ages 11-19 pay $20 and kids 10 and under participate for free.
Already participants have raised about $17,000 to benefit Families in Transition.
The Wicked Fit Run is a rain or shine event, so runners are advised to wear appropriate clothing.
People still wanting to put a costume together might head to OutFitters Thrift Store at 20 South Main Street in Concord or 394 Second Street in Manchester.
The stores still offer many options to help people dress up or find additional accessories for costumes.
Wicked Fit Superhero teams — those raising $500 or more in groups registered earlier this month — are helping to provide two weeks’ housing for a family or individual.
