SAT, ACT exams approach

Some Concord High School students busy with assignments and college applications  may also have testing to consider.
The next administration of the SAT exam is Dec. 3. Students can take the ACT test the following weekend, on Dec. 10.
Additional test dates for 2016-2017 are as follows: January 21, March 11, May 6 and June 3 for the SAT, and February 11, April 8 and June 10 for the ACT.
SATs and ACTs are standardized tests that universities look at when accepting applicants into their school. Generally, the SATs are reading, math and an optional choice of writing. ACTs cover the subjects reading, math, science; it also offers students an optional writing portion.
The tests are held all around CHS, depending on what room the students are assigned to. “4th or 5th floor,” said Commons D administrative assistant and Senior Class co-advisor Christine Boezeman.
SAT and ACT exams, along with other standardized tests like the PSAT, taken in October by nearly every junior and a number of sophomores, can sometimes make students feel stressed or even fearful.
Boezeman advises students to keep things in perspective. “Get a good night’s rest, be prepared, don’t stress, and be on time,” she said.
