Earning their way
Concord High School freshman Nour Salif stocks shelves at the Ft. Eddy Road Market Basket on a recent Saturday afternoon. Salif may not love every minute of his job, in part because he doesn’t like wearing a uniform, but it has taught him “how to smile when you don’t want to.” And, the money is a big plus. Salif is saving his earnings to buy contact lenses. CHS students like Salif are a vital part of the workforce in the capital area. Although not part of their formal school education, working teaches teens valuable skills and helps them save money for future needs.
