Concord Crew member Jack Reid competes in the C.R.A.S.H. B’s regatta at the Agganis Arena in Boston Sunday, Feb. 28. Reid, a senior at Concord High School, rowed in the Men’s Open Race because he will be 19 this year. Coached by teammate and friend Hunter Cini, Reid placed 66th among 179 competitors in his division with a race time of 6:27, beating his personal record by four seconds. This race was one of his last with Concord Crew. Reid has been a team member for three years, which adds up to six seasons (fall and spring) and currently rows in the Men’s 1st Varsity Eight boat. Reid has been recruited by Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. “It’s a great confidence booster to hear from schools with such historic rowing programs like Trinity’s. Knowing that schools who are as fast as they are want a rower like me, gives me hope that I could possibly even row past college competitively,” said Reid. Concord Crew will hold its opening spring meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Concord Crew Boat House on Loudon Road. Competition gets underway in mid-April.
