Organizers of Concord High’s annual canned food drive were surprised Thursday by a sophomore student who generously donated all the change she’d been collecting in a jar on her bureau. The $43 donation helped CHS bring its gift to the Capital Region Food Program to the equivalent of 6223 cans so far. Various departments are holding a friendly competition to see who can funnel the most donations to the cause. So far the math department is in the lead with the equivalent of 2839 cans. Social studies is close behind with 2129 cans, according one faculty organizer, Kristina Peare.
